Kate Middleton and Prince William have shared another new look at the day Kate completed her 24-hour trek up the three highest peaks in Britain. The photo was posted to Instagram on Sunday to mark Mountain Rescue Awareness Day, which falls in the last week of October when the clocks go back in the UK and reminds people to stay safe in the mountains as darkness comes earlier.<\/p>\n

The image, taken over the weekend of June 27\u201328 after Kate completed the challenge, shows the Prince and Princess of Wales at the base of Snowdon (also known as Yr Wyddfa in Welsh) with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. They are surrounded by local mountain rescue team members and a red-coated golden retriever.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough our connection with this remarkable organisation, we have seen first-hand the dedication, professionalism and compassion that define their work,\u201d the caption reads. \u201cMeeting local mountain rescue teams during the Three Peaks Challenge this summer was an opportunity to say thank you in person for the vital role they play in keeping walkers and climbers safe on the mountains all year round.\u201d The message is signed \u201cW & C,\u201d for William and Catherine. Prince William has been patron<\/a> of Mountain Rescue England and Wales since 2007.<\/p>\n

The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland, and Wales\u2014Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis, and Snowdon, respectively\u2014within 24 hours. Kate did it to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which supports the hospital where she was treated for cancer in 2024<\/a>. Kate has since said<\/a> she took on the challenge \u201cnot simply as a physical endeavour but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back.\u201d<\/p>\n

In September, Kate also hosted a small tea party<\/a> at Windsor Castle for fellow Three Peaks participants and their families. \u201cBehind every summit was a personal story of resilience, determination and hope,\u201d Kate said in a statement on social media at the time. \u201cListening to their experiences of the challenge and their reasons for taking it on was a powerful reminder that recovery is rarely a journey we make alone, and of the importance of the people who walk alongside us along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n
