Macklemore has been hitting headlines after he was dropped from Ed Sheeran\u2019s US tour<\/a> following pro-Palestinian remarks during performances in New Jersey.<\/p>\n Since then, numerous artists have voiced their support for the Canadian rapper, including Beoga, who also withdrew from Sheeran\u2019s tour.<\/p>\n Outlets from across the globe attended the concert, with Variety <\/a>noting the \u201cpassionate Irish crowd that hooted and hollered for the duration of the nearly four-hour event\u201d.<\/p>\n The outlet added that the \u201c3Arena was dotted with keffiyehs and Palestinian flags\u201d with \u201cDubliners young and old\u201d attending.\u00a0<\/p>\n Getty\n<\/p>\n The Telegraph <\/a>remarked that it was \u201cfitting\u201d the tour kicked off in Ireland, \u201ca country where there has long been a widespread pro-Palestine sentiment\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cSome of the biggest cheers were given to local performers in the form of Take Me to Church singer Hozier and Kneecap\u00a0the rap trio whose own outspoken support for the Palestinian cause has got them into trouble on occasion\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n During his appearance, Hozier urged everybody to sign a petition lobbying the Irish government to allow 55 scholarship students from Gaza into the country to study.<\/p>\n Hozier called on the Irish government to approve visa applications for students in Gaza during a surprise appearance at the first show of Macklemore\u2019s \u201cFree Palestine\u201d tour:<\/p>\n \u201c55 students in Gaza who are awaiting for their visas to be approved for scholarship places they earned and are waiting for them here in Ireland.
