RT\u00c9\u00a0star Doireann Garrihy has admitted at times that she’s felt ‘like a failure’ since becoming a mother.<\/p>\n

The host welcomed her daughter Rosie with husband Mark Mehigan in October 2025, and a year on, the 2FM star has reflected on her first year as a mum.<\/p>\n

Doireann<\/a> made the revelation during a Q&A on her social media where she was asked about the ‘most difficult’ part of being a mother and confessed that it was learning to breastfeed.<\/p>\n

‘I just didn’t equip myself with enough information in advance of giving birth,’ she explained, adding that she expected it to be ‘so easy’ and the ‘most natural thing in the world,’ she said.<\/p>\n

‘And so I found the reality of how much you persevere really hard. <\/p>\n

‘I built up every feed in my head, and so if things didn’t go perfectly, I felt like a failure,’ she admitted. Looking back now, she didn’t realise how hard she was being on herself.<\/p>\n

‘I wish I hadn’t thought in such extremes and had just been kinder to myself, but hindsight is a great thing,’ before adding that how pumping had proven to be a saviour.<\/p>\n

She told another follower who asked how she stays on top of everything that she still hasn’t mastered that but she had a few techniques to stay on top of her routine.<\/p>\n

‘Being extremely on top of my diary.<\/a> If it’s not in the diary, it doesn’t happen.<\/p>\n

‘Asking for help if and when I need it from my partner or friends. I am blessed to have them and appreciate that not everyone has a supportive network, but if you do, ask for support.<\/p>\n

‘Even a phone call to put things in perspective when life gets overwhelming.’ Doireann’s final tip was to learn not to sweat the small stuff. <\/p>\n
