iOS 27.2 launched this week<\/a> with a variety of new features for Siri AI<\/a>, FaceTime<\/a>, Messages<\/a>, and more, plus a handful of improvements for the Shortcuts app. Here\u2019s everything new in Shortcuts.<\/p>\n

iOS 27.2\u2019s Shortcuts app adds key iPhone Duo automation, plus improvements to several other features<\/p>\n

iPhone Duo launched with iOS 27.1 last week, but just days later iOS 27.2 arrived with a pair of compelling new Duo features<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But it turns out that iOS 27.2 also introduced a key iPhone Duo automation in Shortcuts that\u2019s proven popular<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The ability to automate actions based on whether your iPhone is opened or closed arrived in iOS 27.2, per Apple\u2019s release notes<\/a> for the Shortcuts app. And that\u2019s not the only change.<\/p>\n

New Automations<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen my iPhone is opened or closed\u201d (iPhone Duo)<\/p>\n

Updated Automations<\/p>\n

Workout (\u201cWhen I start a workout\u201d) adds support for the Fitness app (iOS, iPadOS, watchOS)<\/p>\n

App (\u201cWhen Weather is opened or closed\u201d) can now provide the name of the app that was closed (iOS, iPadOS, macOS)<\/p>\n

Updated Actions<\/p>\n

\u201cUse Model\u201d can now get up-to-date information using the web in additional languages<\/p>\n

Shortcut Editor<\/p>\n

Window layout can now be configured using the \u201cShow Actions\u201d and \u201cShow Describe a Shortcut\u201d menu items (macOS)<\/p>\n

Shortcut names and icons can now be edited directly from the library (iOS and iPadOS)<\/p>\n

The additional languages supported by \u201cUse Model\u201d include French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Previously the feature was limited to English.<\/p>\n
