Garda\u00ed and emergency services attended the scene outside a residence in Rathmintin, Jobstown, Dublin 24, that occurred at approximately 2pm. <\/p>\n

The young child was transferred to hospital in Crumlin, but was pronounced dead, garda\u00ed confirmed yesterday. <\/p>\n

Sinn F\u00e9in councillor Louise Dunne said the tragedy has left the whole community in shock and everyone is trying to support the family of the little boy.<\/p>\n

“Tallaght has a huge amount of community spirit and we will rally around them. The whole community is devastated,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We are all wishing them the strength to get through this tragedy. It’s a very sensitive situation,” the Sinn Fein councillor added.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed confirmed a Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been appointed to support the family at this time.<\/p>\n

Forensic Collision Investigators have since conducted a forensic examination of the scene. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a woman also died following a separate road traffic collision near Crosskeys, Co Cavan, on Wednesday afternoon. <\/p>\n

The collision involving two cars occurred on a local road in Carrickatober at approximately 3.30pm.<\/p>\n

One of the drivers, a woman in her 80s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her body was removed to the morgue at Cavan General Hospital where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.<\/p>\n

The other driver, a woman in her 40s, was brought to Cavan General Hospital for assessment.<\/p>\n

The road was closed for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct an examination of the scene which has since been completed and the road has now reopened.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.<\/p>\n

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 3:00pm and 3.30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
