It was clear in the lead-up to the tournament and throughout that they each take great pride in being Irish. The togetherness they showed as a group was evident in everything they did, both on and off the pitch.

“Every game presented a different challenge, but the players responded positively and continued to try to play their football. That approach is why they achieved so many excellent and well-deserved results.

“This experience will stand to each of the players and give them something to build on as they continue along the player pathway. The future is certainly bright for this group of players, but also for Irish football.”

Ireland’s game against England ended in controversial circumstances after the English players walked off the field following an allegation of racism.

Footage from the match appears to show England coach Matt Thorpe beckoning his players off the field after a confrontation between one of their players and an Irish opponent. Ireland were leading 4-1 at the time of the incident.

A FIFA spokesperson said: “FIFA is aware of an incident at the FIFA Under-15 World Cup and Festival match between England and the Republic of Ireland.

“The match was abandoned by the referee following England’s refusal to continue. The official reports are being gathered, and the matter will be referred to the independent disciplinary committee who will decide in due course.”

Republic of Ireland Under-15 Squad

Goalkeepers: Davin Quinn (Shamrock Rovers), Jake Morgan (Coleraine)

Defenders: Jaidee Foley (Cork City), Tom Casey (Shamrock Rovers), Gearoid Moran (Shelbourne), Robert Morgan (St Patrick’s Athletic)

Midfielders: Fionnán Ó’Snodaigh (Bray Wanderers), Joe Manicle (Shamrock Rovers), Billy Carney (Waterford), Harry Rehill (Shamrock Rovers)

Forwards: Fionn McCormack Crowe (Shamrock Rovers), Darragh Nolan (Shelbourne), Conor Hudson (St. Patrick’s Athletic), Nathan Power (Waterford)

Results

Saturday 24 October: Group C | Ireland 4-0 Montenegro
Sunday 25 October: Group C | Ireland 5-3 Zimbabwe
Sunday 25 October: Group C | Nicaragua 3-3 Ireland
Monday 26 October: Group C | Ireland 4-1 England
Monday 26 October: Group C | Cambodia 1-4 Ireland
Wednesday 28 October: Round of 32 | Brazil 7-2 Ireland
Wednesday 28 October: Round of 16 | Northern Ireland 2-3 Ireland
Thursday 29 October: Quarter-Final | Ireland 1-3 Peru
Thursday 29 October: Semi-Final | Ireland 4-4 Cameroon (6-5 pens)
Friday 30 October: 21st v 22nd Play-Off Final | Ireland 3-2 Cymru

The Republic of Ireland Under-15s concluded their FIFA Men’s World Cup with a 3-2 win over Wales in…

[2
61,60,43
post-669789","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-ireland","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-news
["GET
