{"id":671329,"date":"2026-11-01T01:12:28","date_gmt":"2026-11-01T01:12:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/671329\/"},"modified":"2026-11-01T01:12:28","modified_gmt":"2026-11-01T01:12:28","slug":"hong-leong-bank-expands-cross-border-qr-payments-with-alipay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/671329\/","title":{"rendered":"Hong Leong Bank expands cross-border QR payments with Alipay+"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com.my\/business\/marketwatch\/stocks\/?qcounter=HLBANK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hong Leong Bank Bhd<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/charts.thestar.com.my\/?s=HLBANK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"go-chart\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/chart.png\"\/><\/a> (HLB) has added Alipay+ to its cross-border payment network through Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet), allowing customers to make overseas QR payments using the HLB Connect app.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the bank said the integration builds on PayNet&#8217;s existing cross-border QR payment linkages with Singapore&#8217;s NETS, Thailand&#8217;s PromptPay, Indonesia&#8217;s QRIS and Cambodia&#8217;s Bakong.<\/p>\n<p>Alipay+ payments are processed instantly, with funds deducted directly from customers&#8217; ringgit bank accounts.<\/p>\n<p>The addition complements HLB&#8217;s existing connectivity with UnionPay International and Weixin Pay, which provides access to more than 120 million QR-enabled merchants across China, Hong Kong, Macau and Thailand.<\/p>\n<p>HLB said customers can make cross-border QR payments through HLB Connect without downloading additional payment applications or topping up separate e-wallets.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the participating merchant and payment network, customers can either scan a merchant&#8217;s QR code or present their HLB QR Pay code for scanning.<\/p>\n<p>The bank also offers other overseas payment options, including linking eligible HLB cards to Weixin Pay and using Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.<\/p>\n<p>HLB group managing director and chief executive officer Kevin Lam said the integration would provide customers with more payment options when travelling overseas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Bringing these networks together gives them more places to pay through HLB Connect, alongside the cards and other payment options they already use,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>HLB noted that payment acceptance, transaction methods, funding options and availability vary according to the network and market.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Leong Bank Bhd (HLB) has added Alipay+ to its cross-border payment network through Payments Network&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":671330,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[16],"tags":[13708,2605,36908,284343,280727,61,60,202,17798,239093,80,239326,23500],"class_list":["post-671329","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-mobile","tag-alipay","tag-banking","tag-cross-border-payments","tag-hlb-connect","tag-hong-leong-bank","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-mobile","tag-paynet","tag-qr-payments","tag-technology","tag-unionpay-international","tag-weixin-pay"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/671329","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=671329"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/671329\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/671330"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=671329"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=671329"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=671329"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
