Thousands of people have gathered in Derry for the annual Halloween celebrations.<\/p>\n

Thousands are lining the route for the parade and fireworks – the pinnacle of a week of festivities.<\/p>\n

People have come from across the world to view the spectacle – now in its 40th year.<\/p>\n

The parade is being lead by Mayor of Derry Grace U\u00ed Niallais.<\/p>\n

“This year marks an extraordinary milestone as we celebrate 40 years of Derry Halloween.<\/p>\n

“What began as a small-scale local event in 1986 has now grown into Europe’s largest Halloween festival and one of Ireland’s most famous cultural events,” she said.<\/p>\n

The event is being beamed across the United States.<\/p>\n
