An investigation is under way following the death of a man who was in garda custody in Kildare Garda Station.<\/p>\n
The man, who was in his 30s, was found unresponsive at around 9.30am. He received medical assistance from garda\u00ed but was was subsequently pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Fiosr\u00fa, the Office of the Police Ombudsman, said that its investigators attended the scene and an independent investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
Fiosr\u00fa said its investigations relate to incidents involving contact with garda\u00ed where a member of the public has died or been seriously injured.<\/p>\n
“A referral does not necessarily mean a garda or garda\u00ed have been accused of wrongdoing,” it said.<\/p>\n
