As the world mourns Patrick Stewart, Saturday Night Live paid tribute to the late former host on this weekend’s episode.<\/p>\n
Before the goodnights, the NBC sketch comedy show played an archive clip of the three-time Oscar nominee introducing musical guest Salt-N-Pepa during a 1994 episode, in addition to sharing one of his promo photos from his appearance.<\/p>\n

Stewart’s rep announced that the X-Men and Star Trek: The Next Generation actor died at age 86<\/a> on Wednesday at his Los Angeles home, with wife Sunny Ozell by his side.<\/p>\n “We announce with great sorrow the passing of Sir Patrick Stewart yesterday at his home in Los Angeles, in the loving care of his beloved wife Sunny, following a brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia,” the statement reads.<\/p>\n “He has been held in the warm embrace of family and friends, surrounded by live music, prayer, tears, laughter, and the kind of profound emotion that only he could inspire after a lifetime of devotion to us all,” they added. “We will forever cherish the peaceful ease and reflection on his face, an enduring reminder of his invincible grace.”<\/p>\n In addition to marking Navarrette’s first time hosting Saturday Night Live, this weekend’s episode also served as Gracie Abrams’ second time as musical guest after her 2024 debut.<\/p>\n Best of Deadline<\/p>\n Sign up for Deadline’s Newsletter<\/a>.
