A man has been charged in connection with an incident in which a man died and another man was injured following a stabbing at an International Protection Accommodation Services centre in Co Kerry.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were called to the scene at Ballymullen Barracks in Tralee yesterday shortly after 5.20am.<\/p>\n
A man was discovered with serious injuries. It is understood that he had been stabbed.<\/p>\n
He was pronounced dead a short time later.<\/p>\n
Another man, who is in his 40s, was injured and taken to University Hospital Kerry.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.<\/p>\n
A man in his late 40s was arrested at the scene and was held for questioning at a garda station in Co Kerry under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.<\/p>\n
He has subsequently been charged and will appear before a special sitting of Killarney District Court at 6.30pm this evening.<\/p>\n
In 2024, the former Ballymullen Barracks in Tralee was designated to house 50 single male international protection applicants.<\/p>\n
