During an appearance on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=c3qb34-r7gs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Nepo, Baby!<\/a> podcast, the rocker revealed he\u2019s been dealing with hearing issues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ll probably be totally deaf by the time the tour\u2019s over,\u201d Mellencamp said. \u201cI wear earplugs and stuff, but I do not ever, will I ever get hearing aids.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tVideos by American Songwriter\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for why he\u2019s opposed to hearing aids, Mellencamp said that\u2019s all due to his grandmother.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe said, \u2018John, don\u2019t ever get hearing aids because once you get them, you can\u2019t live without them,\u2019\u201d he recalled. \u201cShe said, \u2018If you think chasing around a pair of glasses is a drag, wait till you start chasing around a pair of glasses and some hearing aids.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since he\u2019s resisting hearing aids, Mellencamp\u2019s day-to-day life has been impacted by his audial issues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI don\u2019t like going out [to eat] \u2018cause I can\u2019t hear,\u201d he said. \u201cRight now, my ears are ringing like crazy and I have pulsatile tinnitus, which is I hear my heartbeat.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe go into a restaurant and it\u2019s just like, \u2018Well, I\u2019m out.\u2019 Because I can\u2019t hear anything, because I hear all this noise and stuff,\u201d Mellencamp continued. \u201cI\u2019m sure people don\u2019t want to keep [yelling] in my face or\u2026 so just add tinnitus on top of that and it\u2019s impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>John Mellencamp\u2019s Daughter\u2019s Health Issues<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mellencamp isn\u2019t the only member of his family who is dealing with health issues. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His daughter, Teddi Mellencamp, is currently <a href=\"https:\/\/americansongwriter.com\/john-mellencamps-daughter-says-she-can-no-longer-write-and-struggles-to-see-after-undergoing-brain-surgery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">battling stage 4 melanoma<\/a>, for which she\u2019s undergone brain surgery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In recent posts to her Instagram Story, the rocker\u2019s daughter said she\u2019s dealing with shakiness among other symptoms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m not good with numbers. I can\u2019t write. It\u2019s hard for me to see,\u201d she said. \u201cAll post-having-my-brain surgeries. That being said, I don\u2019t want to keep feeling sorry for myself because that is what\u2019s happening, and then I quit. So, I just want to feel OK being back in my skin again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To that end, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum decided to start working out again for the first time in years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI don\u2019t care about becoming the old me again bc she wasn\u2019t happy,\u201d Mellencamp wrote alongside an old photo of herself and a new pic. \u201cBut [I] am excited to see where my new journey will take me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photo by Gary Miller\/Getty Images<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"John Mellencamp is opening up about a health struggle.
