The stores remain open, and all other products are available as normal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In a statement, a spokesman for Supervalu owner Musgrave Group confirmed that a \u201ccyber incident\u201d affected its refrigeration systems. However, it said the impact was limited to a \u201cspecific model\u201d of refrigerator. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cOur monitoring systems alerted us to the issue, and we took immediate action,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cAs a precaution, chilled and frozen products in the affected stores have been removed from sale, and all other products remain available as normal. Customer safety is our first priority, and customers can be confident that products on sale in our stores have been stored at safe temperatures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Musgrave said its investigation into the incident is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cWe are working closely with the suppliers of the affected refrigeration equipment and with cybersecurity specialists to resolve the issue and restore normal operations as quickly as possible,\u201d the spokesman said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It is not yet clear whether the incident is related to a spate of apparent cyber attacks on European supermarkets in the past 24 hours. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"SuperValu Lucan store shelves following cyber-attack, which affected 13 stores. Photo: Supplied <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Financial Times reported on Monday morning that fridges in dozens of grocery retailers in Sweden and Belgium have suddenly overheated in a suspected cyber attack, ruining food worth millions of euros just weeks after French retailers were targeted. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Freezers at Ica and Coop shops in Sweden were turned up to as high as 55 degrees Celsius, while supermarkets belonging to Ahold Delhaize and Carrefour were affected in Belgium.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It follows a separate cyberattack last month on hundreds of fridges in French supermarkets that \u200bcaused fires and food losses.
