Former James Bond star Trina Parks opened up about Sydney Sweeney potentially taking up a role as a Bond Girl, praising her “classic Hollywood” style and “range of acting”\"Sydney<\/p>\n

A former Bond girl said Sydney Sweeney would do a great job in the role<\/p>\n

Trina Parks, who starred as Thumper in the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever, revealed her thoughts on Sydney Sweeney potentially taking up a role as a Bond Girl.<\/p>\n

Parks, 79, made headlines in 1971 as the first Black woman to take up the \u201cBond Girl\u201d moniker, alongside Sean Connery in Diamonds Are Forever. Now, she\u2019s offering her take on Sweeney<\/a>, 29, picking up the coveted title of \u201cBond Girl” an interview with The Telegraph<\/a>. The 007 actress complimented the Euphoria<\/a> alum, saying that Sweeney \u201cwould do a wonderful job\u201d in the position.<\/p>\n

She added that Sweeney has a \u201cHollywood classic kind of style and poise.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe has done quite a range of acting things and basically has got ownership of her sexual identity,\u201d continued Parks’ praise of Sweeney. The Housemaid star has repeatedly faced backlash for her NSFW-leaning content, including appearing seemingly naked in an ad for betting app Novig.<\/p>\n

Adding to her thoughts on the actress\u2019 \u201cHollywood classic style,\u201d Parks remarked that Sweeney\u2019s look \u201creally works for her projects and brand.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel for modern cinema and film-making and the future of Bond, audiences want to see a woman opposite Bond who is independent and has ownership of her sexuality,\u201d continued the Beyond the Valley of the Dolls star. \u201cSydney has those qualities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parks added that the \u201cdays of women just falling into bed with [James Bond] have changed.\u201d She remarked that it would \u201cbe good\u201d to have \u201cthe girl of the moment\u201d take up a Bond role.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe definitely has a look that would fit into the Bond world,\u201d continued Parks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know much about her work, but she obviously can act because of the type of projects she has appeared in,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Parks also noted that Zendaya, who is among the shortlist of rumored \u201cBond Girl\u201d names, would be fitting for the role. Parks complimented Zendaya\u2019s role in the Spider-Man movies, adding that the actress has a \u201cvery strong screen prowess.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe would be another woman who would not be a pushover for Bond, which would be a good thing,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have always advocated for women of color and greater representation in the movies and the Bond franchise has always been an advocate for them,\u201d emphasized Parks. \u201cThe [film producers] Broccolis were casting more people of color many years before other Hollywood studios brought them in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dune director Denis Villeneuve is set to helm the next James Bond film. It\u2019s unknown what actor will take up the role of the iconic spy, but Jack Lowden, Callum Turner and Josh O\u2019Connor were all confirmed to be screen-testing for the part.
