{"id":673302,"date":"2026-11-03T03:24:16","date_gmt":"2026-11-03T03:24:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/673302\/"},"modified":"2026-11-03T03:24:16","modified_gmt":"2026-11-03T03:24:16","slug":"north-kilkenny-residents-outline-their-fear-that-windfarm-plans-will-industrialise-their-communities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/673302\/","title":{"rendered":"North Kilkenny residents outline their fear that windfarm plans will \u201cindustrialise\u201d their communities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A number of North Kilkenny residents say they\u2019re fearful that windfarm plans will \u201cindustrialise\u201d their communities.<\/p>\n<p>Community submission clinics are to be held in Johnstown, Freshford and Gathabawn in mid-November by a new group which is opposing a series of wind energy developments in their locality.<\/p>\n<p>The Three Hills Community Alliance, which takes in Gathabawn, Killoshulan and Cullahill in neighbouring Laois, was formed over a month ago given the combined total of 34 turbines that have been proposed for development in the combined locality.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, they\u2019re also concerned by several other wind energy proposals in the North Kilkenny\/South Laois area which, if all approved, would lead to the construction of 89 turbines in the wider area.<\/p>\n<p>KCLR News\u2019 Dermot Keyes has been meeting with some of the group members \u2013 hear their conversation here;<\/p>\n<p>Funded under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnam.ie\/general-public\/media-development\/support-funding\/journalism-schemes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">News Reporting Scheme, by Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A number of North Kilkenny residents say they\u2019re fearful that windfarm plans will \u201cindustrialise\u201d their communities.
