{"id":674,"date":"2025-09-05T11:29:06","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T11:29:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/674\/"},"modified":"2025-09-05T11:29:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T11:29:06","slug":"rare-blood-moon-total-lunar-eclipse-set-to-light-up-irish-skies-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/674\/","title":{"rendered":"Rare &#8216;Blood Moon&#8217; total lunar eclipse set to light up Irish skies this weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fans of astronomy will get a rare opportunity this weekend as <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/lifestyle\/outdoors\/arid-41695298.html\">a total lunar eclipse<\/a> will appear in the skies over Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is directly between the sun and the moon, blocking sunlight and casting a shadow across the Moon&#8217;s surface.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The slightly reddish hue of the moon during the eclipse means it is often referred to as a &#8216;Blood Moon&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">According to  Astronomy Ireland, the eclipse will last from 8pm to 9.30pm on Sunday and will be visible across Ireland, with the East Coast offering the best views.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The editor of  Astronomy Ireland, David Moore, said the next total lunar eclipse will not occur until late 2028.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The best chance of viewing the eclipse is from a location with a clear view of the horizon at around 7.30pm, allowing an unobstructed view of the rising Moon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">However, the weather may not cooperate.
