Located about 10 million <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/exoplanets\/what-is-a-light-year\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">light years<\/a> away, this group is quite close to the <a href=\"https:\/\/imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov\/features\/cosmic\/local_group_info.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Local Group<\/a> that includes our Milky Way. Inaccurate accounting of the crowded and dusty Milky Way foreground has led to misunderstandings in IC 342\u2019s history, including the theory that the galaxy was <a href=\"https:\/\/articles.adsabs.harvard.edu\/pdf\/1993AJ....105..886V\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ejected from the Local Group<\/a>. IC 342 has its own dust intermittently blocking the <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/image-article\/apod-2025-january-30-hydrogen-clouds-of-m33\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">glow of hydrogen gas<\/a>, indicating the presence of bright, young stars. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpg.de\/9283089\/magnetic-field-galaxy-IC342\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Magnetic field maps<\/a> of IC 342 reveal that magnetic fields may contribute substantially to one of the biggest galactic puzzles: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universetoday.com\/articles\/astronomers-are-still-trying-to-understand-how-a-galaxys-spiral-arms-form\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">how do spiral arms form<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow&#8217;s picture: open space\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Explanation: \u201cI see\u201d IC 342, the Hidden Galaxy!
