{"id":675100,"date":"2026-11-04T22:14:08","date_gmt":"2026-11-04T22:14:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/675100\/"},"modified":"2026-11-04T22:14:08","modified_gmt":"2026-11-04T22:14:08","slug":"thousands-of-bottles-of-blood-pressure-medication-recalled-by-fda-nbc-chicago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/675100\/","title":{"rendered":"Thousands of bottles of blood pressure medication recalled by FDA \u2013 NBC Chicago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Check your medicine cabinets: More than 3,700 bottles of blood pressure medication sold nationwide were recalled last month because the pills fail to break down and dissolve properly, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/scripts\/ires\/?Event=100113\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/scripts\/ires\/?Event=100113\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">enforcement report from the Food and Drug Administration said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>New Jersey-based Macleods Pharma USA Inc. issued the recall Oct. 7 for Olmesartan Medoxomil, Amlodipine, and Hydrochlorothiazide tablets. The recall was labeled a Class II recall on Oct. 26, meaning the pills could cause temporary or medically reversible health problems, but the likelihood of serious health consequences is considered low. <\/p>\n<p>The pills ranged from 40 mg, 10mg and 12.5mg, and were sold in either 30-count or 90-count bottles. Overall, 3,528 30-count bottles were recalled, and 216 90-count bottles were recalled, the report said. <\/p>\n<p>The reason for the recall, the report stated, was because of &#8220;failed dissolution specifications,&#8221; meaning the pills did not dissolve as required. <\/p>\n<p>According to the Mayo Clinic, the prescription medications are used to treat hypertension, or high blood pressure.<\/p>\n<p>No further details were available.
