Writer-director Don Mancini, whose credits include the \u201cChild\u2019s Play\u201d franchise, is calling out Nicki Minaj<\/a> for attempting to rebrand his best-known creation as a MAGA Republican during the midterm elections. <\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Minaj shared an AI-generated illustration<\/a> of Chucky, the serial killer-possessed doll from the \u201cChild\u2019s Play\u201d films, on X that showed the horror icon suited up and wearing a button that read: \u201cVote Red.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cHAPPY ELECTION DAY!!!\u201d wrote the rapper, who has spent much of the past year<\/a> aligning herself with<\/a> President Donald Trump<\/a> and his MAGA agenda. <\/p>\n

By Tuesday evening, Minaj\u2019s post had drawn a fiery reply from Mancini. <\/p>\n

\u201cIMPOSTER,\u201d he wrote on X<\/a>. \u201cCHUCKY IS PART OF THE BLUE WAVE THAT WILL WASH AWAY ALL THE CORRUPTION.\u201d <\/p>\n

In a subsequent X post, he shared an image<\/a> of a Chucky doll wearing an \u201cI Voted\u201d sticker, writing: \u201cChucky has a trans kid. Chucky protects the dolls. Chucky is anti-ICE. Chucky says \u2018A BLUE WAVE is coming, as BLUE as my fuckin\u2019 eyes!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

And about an hour after that, Mancini seemingly reacted to the election results<\/a> with another photo of Chucky \u2015 this time with blue hair \u2015 and a follow-up message for Minaj. <\/p>\n

\u201cToo bad, Nicki! No AI, by the way!\u201d he quipped. <\/p>\n

Minaj has previously referenced \u201cChild\u2019s Play\u201d on her social media platforms. <\/p>\n

Earlier this year, she used a photo of Chucky while reacting to journalist Don Lemon\u2019s January arrest on federal civil rights charges<\/a> related to his coverage of a protest at a Minnesota church where an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official was a pastor. <\/p>\n

\u201cHOW DARE YOU? I WANT THAT THUG IN JAIL!!!!!\u201d she wrote<\/a>, after describing Lemon with a homophobic slur. \u201cHE WOULD NEVER DO THAT TO ANY OTHER RELIGION. LOCK HIM UP!!!!!\u201d <\/p>\n

Mancini, who is gay, has said he took inspiration<\/a> from his own childhood, as well as the consumerism of the 1980s, while writing the original \u201cChild\u2019s Play,\u201d released in 1988.<\/p>\n

The franchise has since expanded to include seven big-screen sequels. A television series, simply titled \u201cChucky<\/a>,\u201d aired from 2021 to 2024 on Syfy and USA. <\/p>\n

As Mancini pointed out on X, Chucky was revealed<\/a> to have a genderfluid child in the 2004 film \u201cSeed of Chucky.\u201d The character was expanded for the TV series, where they were portrayed in human form by actor Lachlan Watson. <\/p>\n
