The Type-I Kolakoski \\( extrm{K}(1,2)\\) is a self-generating, quasi-periodic sequence of 1’s and 2’s, defined by its own elements as successive run lengths. It begins as \\( extrm{K}(1,2)=1,2,2,1,1,2,1,2,2,1,2,2,\\ldots .\\) By assigning \\(1\\rightarrow extrm{A}\\) and \\(2\\rightarrow extrm{B}\\), it can be written as \\( extrm{K}(1,2)= extrm{A,B,B,A,A,B,A,B,B,A,B,B,}\\ldots .\\). Type-II is obtained by swapping A and B, so \\(\\overline{ extrm{K}(1,2)}= extrm{B,A,A,B,B,A,B,A,A,B,A,A,}\\ldots \\). Type-III is \\( extrm{K}(2,2)= extrm{B,B,A,A,B,A,B,B,A,B,B,A,A,}\\ldots \\), and Type-IV is obtained by swapping A and B in Type-III, so \\(\\overline{ extrm{K}(2,2)}= extrm{A,A,B,B,A,B,A,A,B,A,A,B,B,}\\ldots \\). For a sequence \\( extrm{K}(p,q)_{n}\\), the subscript n denotes a finite Kolakoski sequence containing n terms/elements. For example, \\( extrm{K}(1,2)_{10}= extrm{A,B,B,A,A,B,A,B,B,A}\\), which is shown as a schematic representation in Fig. 1a.
