Rosamund Pike<\/a> will star in and produce \u201cFeed,\u201d a body horror<\/a> film<\/a> from \u201cRussian Doll\u201d co-creator and \u201cStar Wars: The Acolyte<\/a>\u201d creator Leslye Headland<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The film follows a desperate mother who discovers an obscure collagen supplement that promises to transform her tween gymnast daughter into an influencer. Fame hits fast, but as her daughter goes viral, she undergoes a terrifying transformation. \u201cFeed\u201d was inspired by a 2022 Finnish horror film, \u201cHatching.\u201d Daniella Isaacs (\u201cPeople Who Knew Me\u201d) wrote the script. <\/p>\n

Headland made her feature debut in 2012 with an adaptation of her play, \u201cBachelorette.\u201d In 2015, she wrote and directed \u201cSleeping With Other People.\u201d Both premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. <\/p>\n

Pike was nominated for an Oscar for \u201cGone Girl.\u201d Her other credits include \u201cSaltburn,\u201d \u201cAn Education,\u201d and the James Bond film, \u201cDie Another Day.\u201d She won an Olivier Award for \u201cInter Alia,\u201d a role she is reprising this fall on Broadway.<\/p>\n

\u201cLong have I wanted to make a film that plays anarchically with our obsession with social media and self-improvement, our desire for fame without notable admirable skill and, let\u2019s put it out there, the monstrosity of modern motherhood,\u201d Pike said in a statement. \u201c\u2018Feed\u2019 deals with all these things. It tracks a Momfluencer, Erin, bent on her daughter\u2019s domination of the digital space. Erin believes that success here will protect her daughter from the horrors of our fickle world\u2026 won\u2019t it? \u2018Feed\u2019 examines appetite. The dark appetite of online communities; the appetite of a social media landscape that monetizes youth and beauty; the appetite of a mother for her daughter\u2019s success; and the appetite of a teenage girl, hungry for fame, self-empowerment and dominance in her relationship with her single mother. \u2018Feed\u2019 is film that plays in the genre space, and plays into our current fears, as parents, as citizens, of the digital world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Headland added: \u201cDaniella\u2019s script is audacious, disturbing and deeply human, and Rosamund is among the boldest actors working today. I couldn\u2019t ask for better partners to take on the darker corners of this story and I feel incredibly lucky to be making this film with two women whose work I admire so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Veterans is overseeing the international sales rights, with CAA Media Finance tackling the U.S. sales. Talks will kick off next week at the American Film Market.<\/p>\n

Pike will produce through her Primitive Streak banner, alongside Shelley Browning for Magnolia Entertainment, Steven Schneider for Spooky Pictures, Ara Keshishian and Petr Jakl for ZQ Entertainment, and Sam Ritzenberg for Agile Films. ZQ Entertainment financed the development of the script.<\/p>\n
