found guilty at Southwark Crown Court<\/a> of raping a young fan he had met after one of his shows and of sexually assaulting three other women.<\/p>\nThe Metropolitan Police began investigating Brand after allegations were reported by Channel 4\u2032s Dispatches, The Times and The Sunday Times in September 2023.<\/p>\n
Officers were subsequently contacted by a number of women who were not known to each other.<\/p>\n
Sunday Times journalist Rosamund Urwin was one of the reporters involved in the 2023 report and UK media reported that outside court on Thursday, Brand\u2019s barrister Ian Winter KC told Urwin: \u201cYou fucked it.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to LBC, Winter said to Urwin: \u201cI hope you are pleased with yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n
She is said to have replied: \u201cI\u2019m pleased justice has been done.\u201d<\/p>\n
Winter is said to have then responded: \u201cWell, it wasn\u2019t. You fucked it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Urwin herself told a Times and Sunday Times podcast that she was \u201csurprised to be confronted and spoken to in that way\u201d.<\/p>\n
She said she introduced herself to Winter outside court after the verdicts were delivered, and that he replied to her with a \u201csnarl\u201d and said \u201cI hope you\u2019re pleased with yourself\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cApparently I said, but I can\u2019t actually remember this but I\u2019ve read it in reporting, \u2018I am pleased that justice has been done\u2019\u201d, Urwin told the podcast.<\/p>\n
She then told the podcast that Winter replied: \u201cWell, it wasn\u2019t. You fucked it.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a statement this afternoon, Winter said he had referred himself to the Bar Standards Board, his professional regulator.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving seen the ways matters have been characterised in today\u2019s press, I consider my professional duty requires me to self-report those allegations to the Bar Standards Board so the matter can be subject to proper scrutiny,\u201d said Winter.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have made such a report,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
