Simon Delaney has said he would be \u201cliving under a bridge\u201d if he relied on wages from being an actor.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Mark Moriarty on his podcast, Roasted, Simon<\/a> said his kids think their world-renowned acting dad is worth a fortune and they\u2019ll go with Google\u2019s figure of between \u20ac25-35 million.<\/p>\n But he said: \u201cIf I lived off the wages of a theatre actor I\u2019d be living under a bridge.\u201d<\/p>\n The Dublin<\/a>-born actor, who made his debut as a Roman centurion in the musical Godspell in 1992, is very matter of fact in detailing the life of an actor, even one as experienced as himself.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re a single-income household; we live on a normal estate in North County Dublin\u2026 if that figure was true, we\u2019d be doing this podcast from my brownstone in New York.\u201d<\/p>\n The former Virgin Media<\/a> star says he has a lot to be thankful for, including a career that has seen him share the screen with everyone from Sean Penn to Eddie Izzard.<\/p>\n \u201cBut you’ve got to spin a lot of plates,\u201d he said, alluding to his other roles as a radio presenter, novelist and, following his appearance on MasterChef Ireland, in a business venture featuring a food truck in Kildare Village.<\/p>\n \u201cThat went down as well as a fart in a spacesuit.<\/p>\n \u201cWe made a lot of mistakes,\u201d he said, blaming himself for the failure, before adding: \u201cWe lost every penny.\u201d<\/p>\n Reflecting on his food truck business venture, Simon recalled the line used in a favourite TV series, Gold Rush, after yet another disastrous adventure.<\/p>\n \u201cYou have to get up tomorrow, put your boots on and go back to work.\u201d<\/p>\n But Simon admits he\u2019s learned from the experience.<\/p>\n \u201cYou need to be there,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Simon also recalled his time on MasterChef Ireland, saying it was a mixture of pandemonium and nerves.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat a journey.
