Ray D\u2019Arcy is leaving RT\u00c9 Radio 1 after 11 years, the broadcaster has announced.<\/p>\n
Mr D\u2019Arcy presented the final edition of The Ray D\u2019Arcy Show on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
In a statement on Thursday, RT\u00c9 said that during his tenure, D\u2019Arcy and his team \u201cproduced thousands of hours of live radio, capturing real-life stories and a wide range of personal experiences,\u201d had \u201cchampioned Irish artists and music,\u201d and hosted many memorable, funny, and entertaining moments.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Thursday afternoon, Patricia Monaghan RT\u00c9\u2019s director of audio, thanked Mr D\u2019Arcy for his contribution to the station.<\/p>\n
“While The Ray D\u2019Arcy Show is not part of our future plans, we wish him well in his future endeavours,” she said.<\/p>\n
\n RT\u00c9 also confirmed that Shay Byrne will present Mr D\u2019Arcy\u2019s time slot for the rest of the week and said details of future plans for RT\u00c9 Radio 1 \u201cwill be announced soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
61-year-old Kildare native D’Arcy has worked with RT\u00c9 since the 90s, having first joined as a host of Joe Maxi, before become host of The Den.<\/p>\n
Between 1998 and 2014, he presented The Ray D’Arcy show on Today FM, before returning to RT\u00c9 in 2015.<\/p>\n
According to the latest Joint National Listenership Research (JNLR) figures, D’Arcy’s show had a daily listenership of around 182,000 people.<\/p>\n
D’Arcy is the latest in a string of high-profile hosts to depart\u00a0 RT\u00c9 in recent months.<\/p>\n
