Emmerdale’s Liam Cavanagh is anxious to receive the results of his prostate test next week<\/a> \u2013 but will they be what he hopes for, or is he facing further medical concerns? As he braces himself for the outcome, his partner Chas Dingle is right by his side.<\/p>\n

The ITV soap has been exploring a health scare for Liam, as he realised that he was experiencing possible symptoms of prostate cancer. After initially trying to ignore the problem, Liam was eventually convinced to get himself checked out.<\/p>\n

“Liam’s mounting symptoms were alarming enough for him to have a prostate test,” our Emmerdale source explains. “Even though he’s totally used to delivering medical test results as a doctor, he’s still feeling extremely nervous to open his own.<\/p>\n

“He’s worried about what a serious diagnosis could mean for his future with Chas, as he’s seen first-hand from his patients how illness can affect a relationship.”<\/p>\n

Despite the fact that Liam initially kept his health concerns from his fianc\u00e9e, Chas assures him that she’s by his side now.<\/p>\n

When the results come in, the couple embrace as they open them together and find out what Liam’s future holds\u2026<\/p>\n

“Between her son Aaron’s time in hospital and her cousin Charity’s baby dilemma<\/a>, Chas has a lot on her plate lately,” our insider continues. “The way that she supports Liam despite all of this really shows how much she loves him \u00ad\u2013 it would be truly devastating if these two didn’t have a happy ending after all they’ve both been through!”<\/p>\n

Will Liam’s test results confirm his worst fears, spelling out an uncertain future ahead for the doctor? Or, will a reassuring result allow him to move forward with his life with Chas?<\/p>\n

Appearing recently on ITV1’s Lorraine<\/a>, Jonny McPherson \u2013 who plays Liam \u2013 spoke about how his character’s initial avoidance of his issues was true to life.<\/p>\n

“My generation and the generation above are very poor at getting stuff sorted out,” he explained. “Especially as a doctor \u2013 he’s constantly giving advice [that] if anyone feels the slightest niggle or concern, then they should get it checked out. Then he is obviously feeling all these things.<\/p>\n

“I guess as well, as a doctor, you detect symptoms and you have a multiplicity of possibilities. So maybe he’s just painted himself into a corner slightly.<\/p>\n

“With men, there is definitely a tendency of kicking the can down the road: ‘It’ll be alright. Ah, it’ll pass’.”<\/p>\n
