Waterford<\/a> will abseil 200ft down Dublin&#8217;s Smithfield Tower next month in an attempt to raise money for\u00a0Belong To &#8211; LGBTQ+ Youth Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>He has launched his fundraising campaign ahead of the abseil which will take place on Sunday, November 2nd.<\/p>\n<p>Over 30 others will also take to the skies on the day as part of the\u00a0Belong To Abseil Challenge 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Belong To is the national youth organisation which provides services to LGBTQ+ young people and their families across Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>Services include crisis counselling, family support, and information services.<\/p>\n<p>READ NEXT:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.waterfordlive.ie\/news\/home\/1912946\/i-left-waterford-to-live-in-a-converted-van-in-spain-with-my-dog-and-had-the-time-of-my-life.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">&#8216;I left Waterford to live in a converted van in Spain with my dog and had the time of my life&#8217;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It also works with a national network of LGBTQ+ youth groups, providing community, support and fun for LGBTQ+ youth in communities across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The charity works with schools in Waterford and across Ireland through the Stand Up Awareness Week anti-bullying campaign which aims to eradicate all forms of homophobic, bi-phobic and transphobic bullying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I was in secondary school, homophobia and homophobic bullying were rampant and all-pervasive. Every LGBTQ+ Young Person deserves to be celebrated, to be safe and to thrive. That\u2019s why I\u2019m supporting Belong To and their life-changing and life-saving work to give Ireland\u2019s LGBTQ+ Young People the experience they deserve, at school or college, at home and beyond,&#8221; Michael said.<\/p>\n<p>The charity also run an\u00a0in-depth, 18 month LGBTQ+ Quality Programme with schools and Youthreach centres to foster LGBTQ+ inclusion and wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re really grateful to Michael for taking this challenge on.
