TV doctor Hilary Jones has a ‘lovely’ remedy for those suffering with ‘razor blade’ sore throats at the moment.<\/p>\n

The GP, who is a regular on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, said a spoonful of one food product could ease symptoms.<\/p>\n

Although honey is known for its ability to soothe colds, Manuka honey<\/a> has extra benefits, the medic said.<\/p>\n

Due to its high levels of Methylglyoxal (MGO) – a compound linked to antibacterial and antimicrobial effects – it can help fight bacteria and infections.<\/p>\n

Dr Hilary said: “Current NHS<\/a> Covid<\/a> advice is to have a teaspoon of honey for a razor blade sore throat.<\/p>\n

“I recommend Manuka honey as this particular honey has a soothing texture and unique measurable antibacterial qualities that can help calm sore throats and support a faster recovery with no side effects whatsoever except a lovely taste in the mouth.”<\/p>\n

Shoppers can get their hands on Mauka honey products from just \u00a35.25 at Manuka Doctor<\/a>, a brand Dr Hilary has worked with for almost 10 years.<\/p>\n

The Manuka Doctor’s Immunity Bundle<\/a> is now \u00a319.50 down from \u00a327.50, and includes Manuka honey lozenges, Immune Defence Spray, Immune Defence Syrup and High Strength Vitamin D Capsules.<\/p>\n

The Mirror<\/a> reports that there is also the 100 MGO Twin Pack Squeezy<\/a>, which has been reduced to \u00a311.70 down from \u00a314.70, and offers shoppers two squeezy bottles of Manuka honey.<\/p>\n

A triple pack of Manuka Lozenges<\/a> were also available for \u00a310.<\/p>\n

Alternatives include the Hilltop Premium Manuka Honey 250+ MGO 225g jar<\/a>, which costs \u00a312 from Tesco<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There’s also this Egmont Honey Manuka Honey MGO 40+<\/a>, which costs \u00a32 for a 40g jar at Holland and Barrett. It’s said to be ‘a rich complex tasting honey’ with antibacterial properties.<\/p>\n

Manuka Doctor’s product<\/a>s have plenty of fans, however.<\/p>\n

One claimed: “I took Manuka honey<\/a> every day during my episode of Covid. My sore throat improved, as did my recovery.”<\/p>\n

A second customer said: “Just love the strong taste, especially with Greek yoghurt.<\/p>\n

“When I recently had Covid<\/a>, I was having a tsp every day, very soothing for my throat.”<\/p>\n
