\n\tThe surviving Yellowjackets<\/a> will have one more season to make it home.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Paramount+<\/a> thriller, produced by Lionsgate TV, will end with its upcoming fourth season<\/a>, series creators Ashley Lyle<\/a> and Bart Nickerson<\/a> said in a statement Friday evening (which they also posted on social media<\/a>). A writers room for the now-final season is open, with production set to start in 2026. A premiere date hasn\u2019t been set.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAfter three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we\u2019re excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season,\u201d Lyle and Nickerson\u2019s statement reads. \u201cWe\u2019ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it\u2019s our belief that our job \u2014 our responsibility \u2014 is to listen. Telling this emotional, wild, and deeply human story has been a profoundly meaningful experience and a true honor for us, and we\u2019re so very grateful to the brilliant cast, crew and writers who have bravely gone on the journey with us to bring it to life. Most of all, we want to thank the fans who have stuck with us through every moment, mystery and meal \u2014 the Hive is nothing without you! We can\u2019t wait to share the final chapter with you and hope you find it \u2026 delicious.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLyle and Nickerson will continue as showrunners in the final season and are in conversations with Paramount about extending their relationship with the company.<\/p>\n

\n\tYellowjackets premiered on Showtime in 2021 and became a word-of-mouth hit as it told the often wild tale of a high school girls\u2019 soccer team surviving the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash in the late 1990s and the present-day stories of those who made it out and tried to put their lives back together. The show\u2019s third season<\/a> concluded in April, and it scored a renewal \u2014\u00a0from Paramount+, which has absorbed the Showtime brand as part of its Premium tier \u2014\u00a0in May. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe series has also scored 10 Emmy nominations so far, including two best drama series nods for seasons one and two.<\/p>\n

\n\tLyle and Nickerson had previously said they had envisioned five seasons for Yellowjackets, but Lyle admitted to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> following the season three finale that \u201cAny time that you say, \u2018We\u2019re going to do five or six seasons,\u2019 that\u2019s a shot in the dark and incredibly wishful thinking, just from a practical standpoint.\u00a0\u2026 We feel that there is more story to tell and we\u2019re really excited to dive into it. As you said, to be able to tell the story of the reassimilation into society, to see what horrors are in store for them even without the horrors of the wilderness is very exciting. But you can never truly predict and we just will be very grateful that we keep getting to tell the story.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSeason three starred Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, Sophie N\u00e9lisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins and Simone Kessell. Elijah Wood had a recurring role, and Hilary Swank, Joel McHale and Ashley Sutton guest starred.<\/p>\n

\n\tLyle and Nickerson executive produced season three with co-showrunner Jonathan Lisco, Drew Comins of Creative Engine, Jeff W. Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa and Brad Van Arragon.<\/p>\n
