{"id":75665,"date":"2025-10-12T11:18:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-12T11:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/75665\/"},"modified":"2025-10-12T11:18:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-12T11:18:07","slug":"confirmed-massive-2028-european-event-coming-to-west-of-ireland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/75665\/","title":{"rendered":"CONFIRMED: Massive 2028 European event coming to West of Ireland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ireland-live.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">West of Ireland\u2019s<\/a> bid to host EuroPride 2028 has been successful with\u00a0Limerick and Clare selected to host the massive event.<\/p>\n<p>QuareClare, Limerick Pride and The Outing Festival entered a joint &#8216;West of Ireland\u2019 bid and competed with Manchester Pride to host the celebration.<\/p>\n<p>Ireland has never hosted EuroPride, Europe\u2019s largest LGBTQIA+ celebration, while Manchester previously held the event in 2003.<\/p>\n<p>Read next:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ireland-live.ie\/news\/national-news\/1916635\/do-not-eat-warning-issued-as-popular-ready-made-meal-is-recalled-amid-allergy-concerns.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">&#8216;Do not eat&#8217;: Warning issued as popular ready-made meal is recalled amid allergy concerns<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"126\" data-end=\"358\">Bids were presented at the EPOA annual conference in Barcelona over the weekend, where more than 120 member organisations cast their votes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"126\" data-end=\"358\">The West of Ireland bid secured a decisive victory, earning an impressive 70% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"485\" data-end=\"556\">In a statement shared on EuroPride\u2019s Instagram page, organisers said: \u201cThe event will give voice and visibility to smaller Prides and LGBTQIA+ communities across Ireland and Europe, ensuring that every community \u2014 rural or urban \u2014 is seen, heard, and represented.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The announcement has been welcomed by Mayor of Limerick John Moran who said:\u00a0&#8220;I welcome this landmark event as a recognition of our spirit, our inclusivity, and our commitment to equality. As host, we will welcome tens of thousands of visitors, activists, artists, and allies from across Europe and beyond to our streets, venues, and public spaces.
