<\/p>\nThe club has issued an apology to those injured following an attack by supporters of the club in Dublin city centre\n<\/p>\n
The German football club were in Dublin yesterday to play a friendly football match with Bohemians. Schalke lost to the Dublin team 3-2.<\/p>\n
A large crowd of supporters were marching and chanting in the city yesterday afternoon when a supporter allegedly attacked a man on Abbey street.<\/p>\n
Video footage posted to social media shows a female photographer approaching the crowd taking photos before her camera was pushed aside by one supporter. <\/p>\n
Soon after a man came between them and was pushed to the ground by another supporter. <\/p>\n
In her post to X, the photographer said: \u201cToday in Dublin, I went to photograph what I thought was a parade.<\/p>\n
“They grabbed my camera and pushed Steve over.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey then kicked him in the head, unable to get up they continued to kick him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were Schalke football hooligans. I’m so appalled and disgusted,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n
Around 2,000 supports accompanied the team to Dublin for the match. <\/p>\n

In a statement the football club condemned the incident. <\/p>\n
It said: \u201cThe photos that have been circulating on social media since yesterday afternoon are disturbing and hard to process.<\/p>\n
\u201cFC Schalke 04 expects everyone who supports and follows the club to behave in a manner that is respectful and responsible.<\/p>\n
“This type of incident cast the club and our community in a light that is not fair to S04, nor to the thousands of peaceful Schalke fans. The perception that this creates is damaging to the culture at the club and the identity of FC Schalke 04. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe utterly condemn these incidents and, as announced, will rigorously investigate the events and take appropriate action. This review process began yesterday, despite the fact that the information at our disposal is still unclear.<\/p>\n
\u201cSchalke 04 wants to express its sympathy for those affected by the incident and wish them a full recovery,\u201d it added. <\/p>\n
Last month Schalke fans violently clashed with supporters of Dortmund and Cologne football clubs in an incident near a train station in Dortmund, north of Dusseldorf. <\/p>\n
