Keanu Reeves<\/a> is still in awe of Diane Keaton<\/a>\u2019s brilliance.<\/p>\n

Especially because the actor got to witness Diane\u2019s onscreen magic firsthand when the two costarred in 2003\u2019s Something\u2019s Gotta Give, which he warmly recalled following her Oct. 11 death at the age of 79<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cTotal pro,\u201d Keanu exclusively shared with E! News about her at a screening of his new film Good Fortune in New York City on Oct. 13. \u201cShe was very nice to me. Generous, generous artist and a very special, unique person.\u201d<\/p>\n

And getting the chance to watch Diane work alongside their costar Jack Nicholson in the film\u2014which was written and directed by Nancy Meyers\u2014still resonates strongly with the 61-year-old after all these years.<\/p>\n

“It was cool to be able to see her and Jack Nicholson together,” Keanu continued. “Just with the history they shared and the way the fondness and love they had for each other. It’s really cool.”<\/p>\n

And Keanu\u2014whose upcoming film Good Fortune hits theaters Oct. 17\u2014wasn\u2019t alone in his admiration for Diane. <\/p>\n

Nancy also shared her own tribute to the Oscar winner\u2014who, in addition to Something\u2019s Gotta Give, starred in Baby Boom and Father of the Bride parts one and two, all of which were written by Nancy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese past 48 hours have not been easy,\u201d the writer posted to Instagram<\/a> Oct. 13. \u201cSeeing all of your tributes to Diane has been a comfort.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Oscar nominee wrote that as \u201ca movie lover,\u201d she knows the industry has \u201clost a giant\u201d and “a friend of almost 40 years.\u201d <\/p>\n

“At times over those years,\u201d Nancy continued, “she felt like a sister because we shared so many truly memorable experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n

And having had the chance to work with Diane so many times meant that the director got to watch the Hollywood icon \u201cgive it her all.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I needed her to cry in scene after scene in Something\u2019s Gotta Give she went at it hard and then somehow made it funny,\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd I remember she would sometimes spin in a kind of goofy circle before a take to purposely get herself off balance or whatever she needed to shed so she could be in the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nancy added, \u201cThank you Di. I\u2019ll miss you forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diane’s Book Club costars each shared individual tributes for the late actress. <\/p>\n

The Elf actress emphasized that her late friend was “magic.”<\/p>\n

“There was no one, nor will there ever be, anyone like her,” she wrote in a statement. “I loved her and felt blessed to be her friend. My love to her family. What a wonder she was!!!” <\/p>\n

“It\u2019s hard to believe…or accept\u2026that Diane has passed,” Jane wrote in her own Instagram post<\/a>. “She was always a spark of life and light, constantly giggling at her own foibles, being limitlessly creative… in her acting, her wardrobe, her books, her friends, her homes, her library, her worldview. Meanwhile, Candice wrote in her post, “This is a huge loss, both personally and for all of us.”<\/p>\n

Diane’s Annie Hall costar penned an essay in her honor after news of her passing. <\/p>\n

“Unlike anyone the planet has experienced or is unlikely to ever see again, her face and laugh illuminated any space she entered,” Woody wrote in an essay for The Free Press<\/a>. “She was so charming, so beautiful, so magical, that I questioned my sanity. I thought: ‘Could I be in love so quickly?'”<\/p>\n

Woody called the world a “drearier” place without Diane, adding, “Still, there are her movies. And her great laugh still echoes in my head.\u201d<\/p>\n
