The Pebble reboot project is beginning to feel real! The company just announced that the Pebble 2 Duo has entered production and listed some important reminders about the watch\u2019s waterproof rating and build characteristics before shipping this month.<\/p>\n

After announcing that the Pebble 2 would get a full revival in March 2025, the company has been in sixth gear trying to get units ready for shipping. According to founder Eric Migicovsky, that\u2019s coming sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n

Pebble announced that the Pebble 2 Duo \u2014 a rework of the original Pebble 2 \u2014 has finally entered mass production. The process is said to take another two months to manufacture the target number of units.<\/p>\n

Pebble\u2019s founder notes<\/a> that users who pre-ordered first should expect to receive their units in mid-September, after what looks like a small delay<\/a>. Those who pre-ordered a little later might expect their Pebble 2 Duos towards the end of September, and \u201cBatch 2\u201d orders would likely see an October shipping date.<\/p>\n

That doesn\u2019t take into account the one-week period it will likely take to ship from the warehouse to the destination.<\/p>\n

Pebble goes on to make some important notes about the Pebble 2 Duo, previously named the \u201cCore 2 Duo.\u201d The company originally aimed to hit a target water resistance rating of IPX8, and while it hasn\u2019t noted if this is the official end-rating of the new watch, the device is officially able to withstand up to 20 meters of submergence in water.<\/p>\n

With that, there are some very strong reminders listed in this shipping update. For one, Pebble strongly reminds customers that the Pebble 2 Duo is not a dive watch, and it shouldn\u2019t be exposed to water for long periods of time. The watches can not handle hot or high-pressure water, including the stream from a standard shower head. Doing so would break down the glue used to make it water-resistant.<\/p>\n

As far as battery life goes, the Pebble 2 Duo is currently hitting around 2 weeks of life with the current version of software. The company plans to extend that to around 4 weeks with updates in the future. The post also makes a note about the \u201cbasic\u201d included strap, reminding users that a simple band swap is very easy.<\/p>\n

Tariffs are further detailed, with the company indicating that a $8.42 tariff charge is included in the shipping confirmation, but there will be no further collection after the watch is in the mail.<\/p>\n
