{"id":82952,"date":"2025-10-15T20:59:21","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T20:59:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/82952\/"},"modified":"2025-10-15T20:59:21","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T20:59:21","slug":"pakistan-and-imf-reach-preliminary-deal-to-release-1-2-billion-from-bailout-package","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/82952\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan and IMF reach preliminary deal to release $1.2 billion from bailout package"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">ISLAMABAD (AP) \u2014 Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund have reached a staff-level agreement for the release of $1.2 billion from the bailout package approved last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The $7 billion bailout <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/pakistan-imf-loan-deal-f6e5b227e575e30993da3328c64f9410\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:approved by the IMF in July 2024;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">approved by the IMF in July 2024<\/a> aimed to keep Pakistan from defaulting on its debt repayments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The agreement following several days of talks in Islamabad was reported by state media Wednesday and the IMF confirmed it in an overnight statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The IMF said Pakistan\u2019s economic program is helping entrench macroeconomic stability and rebuild market confidence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The development comes weeks after Pakistan urged the IMF to consider concessions in light of <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/pakkistan-floods-punjab-damages-assessment-losses-6c28b31b8bbcbc47c0558fa7a2326f0c\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:devastating floods that killed more than 1,000;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">devastating floods that killed more than 1,000<\/a> people and affected some 7 million in recent months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The IMF said the recent floods highlight Pakistan\u2019s vulnerability to natural disasters and climate-related risks and stressed the continuing need to build climate resilience.
