Three walls of the booth were covered with pieces from Halsey\u2019s 2025 untitled series of polymer-modified gypsum and stain on wood pieces. The works resemble an Egyptian-style frieze portraying \u201cAfro-diasporic mythologies, funk music and aesthetics, personal memory, and collective history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cUltimately, she provides viewers with new ways of imagining and experiencing the plenitude and vibrancy of Black life,\u201d the gallery said in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>\t\tRelated Articles<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/www.artnews.com\/wp-content\/themes\/vip\/pmc-artnews-2019\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/ROUYG143369_FrameCompositeGREDIT_Adobe-hires.jpg\" alt=\"An abstract painting of some people.\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"\" width=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn the center of the booth was the artist\u2019s six-foot-tall plaza sign sculpture, titled LODA PLAZA (2025). Signs on the sculpture read \u201cBling Tax and Things\u201d and \u201cAffordable Black Art,\u201d among other messages, and serve as \u201ca reminder of the continued importance of nonwhite businesses and cultural institutions in communities navigating the realities of gentrification, skyrocketing rent, and economic displacement,\u201d the gallery added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhile the gallery did not release prices\u2014it never does\u2014an art advisor who asked not to be named told ARTnews the works were on offer for $250,000 each.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ a-font-body-m     \">\n\t(Only eight Halsey works have come to auction thus far. Four of those were for gypsum-on-wood carvings from previous years, with the top result going to a 2020 work that sold for $127,000 at Sotheby\u2019s New York during a day sale in November 2023.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAntwaun Sargent, a director at Gagosian, told ARTnews, \u201cThe success we\u2019ve had at Frieze really reflects the strength of the artist. These are conceptually rigorous but also beautiful works. What people connected to was Lauren\u2019s ability to link architecture, color, and pop culture with community. At Frieze, we\u2019ve made several institutional placements and others with serious, long-term collectors.
