{"id":90203,"date":"2025-10-19T07:43:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-19T07:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/90203\/"},"modified":"2025-10-19T07:43:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-19T07:43:13","slug":"solicitor-complains-of-delay-in-cork-drug-seizure-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/90203\/","title":{"rendered":"Solicitor complains of delay in Cork drug seizure case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">The investigation of a \u20ac2.1m drug seizure at Ringaskiddy at the end of July saw a of 59-year-old truck driver being remanded in custody until October 28, to allow time for directions from the DPP.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">His solicitor complained of delay, saying the dogs in the street knew the DPP would direct trial by indictment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Robert Slivar, of no fixed abode, but formerly of Ivanic in Croatia, appeared at Cork District Court by video link from prison, charged with two offences relating to the seizure of 93 packages of herbal cannabis with a weight of 107kg.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Mr Slivar, who travelled to Cork by ferry from Zeebrugge in Belgium on July 27, is charged with cannabis possession and having the cannabis for sale or supply at the Port of Cork, Ringaskiddy, on that date.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">On the application of Sergeant Aisling Murphy, Judge Mary Dorgan remanded the accused in custody until October 28.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Mr Slivar was represented in court by solicitor Diarmuid Kelleher, who complained about the absence of DPP directions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cThis matter will not be dealt with in the district court \u2013 the dogs on the street know that. Let\u2019s not play around.
