{"id":91332,"date":"2025-10-19T21:56:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-19T21:56:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/91332\/"},"modified":"2025-10-19T21:56:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-19T21:56:11","slug":"fibre-broadband-made-available-to-over-2000-new-homes-in-tipperary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/91332\/","title":{"rendered":"Fibre broadband made available to over 2,000 new homes in Tipperary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>National Broadband Ireland, the company delivering the new future-proofed, high-speed Fibre-to-the-Home network under the National Broadband Plan on behalf of the Government, has said that almost 2,400 Tipperary premises in its Littleton deployment area can now avail of a high-speed fibre broadband connection.<\/p>\n<p>This includes the rural surrounds and townlands of Littleton, Thurles and Holycross.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tipperarylive.ie\/news\/nenagh\/1921075\/massive-49m-upgrade-for-tipperary-wastewater-treatment-plant-cleared-to-go-ahead.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">READ MORE:\u00a0Massive \u20ac49m upgrade for Tipperary wastewater treatment plant cleared to go ahead<\/a><\/p>\n<p>31,000 premises in Co Tipperary are included in the State\u2019s Intervention Area, which will see NBI deliver minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second to homes, businesses, farms, and schools.<\/p>\n<p>As the biggest investment in rural Ireland since rural electrification, Co Tipperary will receive \u20ac118m of Government investment under the National Broadband Plan.<\/p>\n<p>There are 2,374 Tipperary premises in the Littleton deployment area that can join the NBI network.<\/p>\n<p>National Broadband Ireland is calling on people living nearby to visit\u202fnbi.ie\u202f and enter their Eircode to see if they are ready to connect.<\/p>\n<p>Works have already been completed in other parts of Tipperary, including the rural surrounds of Ballina, Roscrea and Templemore.<\/p>\n<p>There is a total of 30,142 premises that can now pre-order or order high-speed, reliable broadband across the county with 9,621\u202fconnections made so far.<\/p>\n<p>TJ Malone, Chief Executive Officer, National Broadband Ireland,\u202fsaid:\u202f\u201cWe are delighted to announce that almost 2,400 Tipperary premises in the Littleton deployment area can now order high-speed broadband services through the NBI network. This will enable those who connect to experience the life-changing benefits of high-speed broadband with minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverall, over 30,100 homes, businesses and farms in Co Tipperary can now order a high-speed fibre connection to the NBI network. This includes the rural surrounds of Ballina, Roscrea and Templemore. We are working hard on the ground to progress other areas of the county through engineering survey, design and construction phases. We are encouraging Tipperary residents to visit the NBI website to check their Eircode and sign up for updates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tipperarylive.ie\/news\/nenagh\/1920328\/last-chance-tipperary-singer-songwriter-to-play-iconic-irish-music-venue-tonight.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">READ MORE:\u00a0LAST CHANCE: Tipperary singer-songwriter to play iconic Irish music venue tonight!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>NBI has now passed almost 420,000 homes, farms and businesses in rural Ireland to high-speed broadband with over 149,000 now connected.<\/p>\n<p>The average take-up rate of 35% is well ahead of projections and international comparisons and surpasses 50% in areas of the country where the network has been live for 18 months.<\/p>\n<p>As a wholesale network operator, NBI does not sell fibre broadband directly to end users, rather it enables services from a range of broadband providers or Retail Service Providers.<\/p>\n<p>As a wholesale provider, NBI will make the new Fibre-to-the-Home network available to all RSPs operating in the Intervention Area.<\/p>\n<p>Some 72 RSPs have already signed up to sell services on the\u202fNBI network\u2122 and 66 are certified to provide connections as of today. To see the retail broadband providers that are currently licensed to sell on the\u202fNBI network, visit nbi.ie.<\/p>\n<p>NBI is encouraging people to check their eligibility and register for updates at\u202fnbi.ie\u202fto receive regular notifications related to their own premises as works progress in their area.<\/p>\n<p>In advance of the Fibre-to-the-Home rollout, the NBP provides for the delivery of Broadband Connection Points nationwide. 955 of these sites, including Public BCPs, are now \u2018live\u2019. Public BCPs \u2013 which include sports clubs, community centres and tourist sites \u2013 will provide free public access to high-speed internet in the rollout area. Other BCP categories include schools and marts.<\/p>\n<p>BCPs will pave the way for rural communities to receive the benefits of broadband, from mobile working, e-learning and mobile banking, to digital tourism.<\/p>\n<p>You can view BCPs at\u202fnbi.ie.<\/p>\n<p>An example of some of the locations of Broadband Connection Points in\u202fTipperary include Curreeney Community Hall, The Apple Farm and Drom NS, Templemore.
