Kristen Bell and Adam Brody’s Netflix romcom series Nobody Wants This broke the internet last year when Brody’s rabbi character said “I can handle you” – and season two just dropped this past week. While the show has yet to be renewed for a third season, Bell has revealed details about where production currently is.

The actress, who plays agnostic sex podcaster Joanne on the show, told Parade last week that the script for a third season is up and under way. “You never know if you’re gonna be able to shoot because that’s way above our pay grade, and they decide what shows are gonna be shot. But the writer’s room is writing it right now. That we know,” Bell said.
In this second season, we see Joanne considering converting to Judaism to be with her “hot rabbi” boyfriend, aka Brody’s Noah. But the biggest shock of the season has perhaps been how much fans have warmed to Noah’s sister-in-law, Esther – played by 45-year-old Jackie Tohn.
In the first season, Esther was torn apart by fans for being harsh and controlling, but as Esther’s character is explored more in season two and we see the depth behind her hard exterior, she has quickly become a scene-stealer.
Here’s everything to know about Esther’s actress, Jackie Tohn.

Born in August 1980, Jaclyn Tohn was raised in a Jewish family in Long Island, New York. Tohn always wanted to become a TV star, she revealed during an appearance on iHeartRadio’s Post Run High podcast last December. She first ventured into the business she was nine, and had representation thanks to a family friend who ran an agency. Her mother, a substitute teacher who raised Tohn and her brothers, quit her job to take Tohn to auditions.

The actress landed her first gig in an episode on The Nanny and “did a bunch of stuff for Nickelodeon”, she said on the podcast. Later, Tohn went on to attend the University of Delaware. She had planned on becoming a teacher, but life had other plans.
