‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, has turned out to be one of the festive season’s surprise blockbusters. Despite stiff competition from Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Thamma’, the romantic drama has held its ground at the box office, earning Rs 44.85 crore in its first week of release.

The Milap Zaveri directorial, co-written by Mushtaq Shiekh, has struck a chord with audiences who enjoy passionate love stories laced with drama. The film, produced by Desi Movies Factory, features Rajesh Khera, Ananth Narayan, Sachin Khedekar, and Shaad Randhawa in pivotal supporting roles.

According to Sacnilk’s estimates, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ earned Rs 3.35 crore on Monday, its seventh day in theatres. The film witnessed a surge in collections over the weekend, minting Rs 6.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 6.75 crore on Sunday, showing strong word-of-mouth support. Despite having fewer screens than ‘Thamma’, it managed to pull consistent footfall, proving that compelling love stories still attract cinema-goers.

“When a strong-willed superstar falls in love with a powerful politician, their passionate romance swiftly turns into a dangerous game of obsession, pride, and heartbreak,” read the official synopsis of the film.

Interestingly, the Harshvardhan–Sonam starrer has performed particularly well in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, drawing audiences seeking emotionally charged romance on the big screen. With renewed interest in romantic dramas following the re-releases of classics like ‘Saiyaara’ and ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has emerged as an unexpected success story this festive season.
