The OnePlus 13 now officially supports LineageOS 23. This gives OnePlus 13 users a great way to move beyond the standard OxygenOS software. This is huge news for anyone who loves the hardware OnePlus packs into its devices but wants a cleaner, more stock Android feel.

The OnePlus 13 is currently running Android 15 with the OxygenOS 16 update announced but is stuck in Beta testing across selected regions. LineageOS 23, which is based on Android 16, is now fully available for the OnePlus 13. This lets you run a newer software build than is currently available through official channels.

LineageOS 23.0 comes with many improvements to existing core apps. This includes the Twelve music player, which is also getting some upgrades. There are also many under-the-hood performance improvements that make the system feel quicker across the board. The LineageOS team has managed to build this version using the 6.6 kernel, which makes it compatible and better optimized for the newer hardware.

The custom ROM takes full advantage of the seriously impressive internal hardware of this flagship without the bloat or heavy customization of OxygenOS. Basically, it feels faster and smoother. This is great and came pretty soon after the OnePlus 12 joined the custom ROM project’s roster a month ago.

OnePlus devices are known for having great internal components, and the OnePlus 13 is absolutely no exception to that standard. I would say the biggest issue is that there is a shorter software support window when compared directly to Samsung’s current flagship commitment. Five years of updates is not a short period of time, but LineageOS 23 gives you even more runway for your OnePlus 13. That longevity makes the OnePlus 13 a much better long-term investment.

The OnePlus 13 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, which is a powerful octa-core Oryon processor, clocking up to 4.32 GHz. The memory configuration is also extreme, ranging from 12 GB up to a massive 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, paired with the powerful Qualcomm Adreno 830 GPU. There aren’t many high-end flagship devices with official LineageOS builds, so it’s always nice to see more options there.

The builds are live and ready to go for the OnePlus 13. If you want to use it, you will need to unlock the bootloader on your device first. If you’re on the fence but want the absolute cleanest Android experience on some of the best mobile hardware available, you won’t find many other opportunities like this.

You can learn more about LineageOS from the project’s website, where you can download the build for the OnePlus 13.
