The seller of Celebrity Traitors UK is “urgently reviewing” its processes after the show accidentally aired a day early in Canada and New Zealand.
All3Media International took the blame for the error, which saw the highly-anticipated finale air on Canada’s Crave and New Zealand’s ThreeNow streamers around 24 hours before launching on the BBC. Both streamers took the show down after a couple of hours but it led to spoilers galore on social media and the BBC urgently scrabbling.
A spokeswoman for All3Media International said the mistake happened “due to an internal miscommunication regarding release dates.”
“We are deeply sorry that the final of The Celebrity Traitors was made available in Canada and New Zealand ahead of its scheduled BBC One premier transmission,” added the spokeswoman. “The episode was taken down immediately once the issue was identified. We recognise the importance of protecting the viewing experience for audiences, particularly for a series where secrecy is central to the format. We are urgently reviewing our processes to ensure this does not happen again.”
Deadline will not be publishing spoilers here about last night’s finale but it was an ep of high drama. Audiences had to wait six days for the conclusion of the first celebrity version of the hit series.
When the mistake happened, the BBC said: “We kindly ask anyone who thinks they know the outcome of The Celebrity Traitors to keep whatever they believe they know to themselves.”
The show is produced by All3Media-owned Studio Lambert. There are also separate versions in both Canada and New Zealand.
