Peter “Spider-Man” Parker’s latest love interest is light years removed from his past romances, and fans have no clue where things are headed next, nor if they’re in for the ride.
With the release of Amazing Spider-Man #15 (by Joe Kelly, Emilio Laiso, Marcio Menyz, Marte Gracia, Erick Arciniega, and VC’s Joe Caramagna), Peter Parker has officially embarked upon a new romance, and it is nothing like what fans are used to seeing. Since being tossed across the universe during his battle with Hellgate, Spider-Man has been fighting alongside a band of interstellar heroes including Rocket Raccoon, Xanto Starblood, and Raelith the Wretched. After putting his life on the line to save the day yet again, however, Spider-Man learns that the latter’s moniker is little more than that, as Raelith makes a move on the Wall-Crawler that he has no intention of turning down. Sorry, Mary Jane Watson. Peter’s love life just got a litte more interesting.
Peter Parker’s current cosmic journey began months ago when the Wall-Crawler faced off against the enigmatic warrior known as Hellgate back in Amazing Spider-Man #8 by Joe Kelly, John Romita Jr., and Todd Nauck. Despite having previously helped Spider-Man deal with the Hobgoblin’s minions, Hellgate was always set on facing off against the hero for himself. Somehow, Hellgate’s final blow during their last confrontation sent Spider-Man hurtling across the universe, where he awoke in the questionable care of Doctor Xanto Starblood along with the likes of Rocket Raccoon and Raelith.
Since then, Spider-Man has joined forces with Rocket, Raelith, and the others in their adventures, ostensibly while leading each of them back to their respective homes. Of course, this effort has been met with plenty of issues along the way, ranging from Starblood’s own initially malevolent endeavors up through encounters with decidedly antagonistic alien forces. Fortunately, Spider-Man has been given an edge against his decidedly fierce competition courtesy of the Technarachnid Suit he now wears and wields in combat.
