The difficult financial situation in which Hellenic Post (ELTA) finds itself – a situation that now even poses a question of the organization’s survival – brings to the fore what is happening with citizens’ money deposited in ELTA’s giro accounts.
In 2024, the amount of deposits of private customers in postal accounts came to 131.73 million euros, up from €125.91 million in 2023.
These are amounts that remain inactive in the accounts, as many beneficiaries either choose to keep them as savings or have not sought them for a long time. The question is what will happen when they do try to withdraw this money from ELTA.
