Loh Kean Yew made quick work of Huang Ping-Hsien to coast into the second round of badminton‘s Kumamoto Masters Japan 2025 on Wednesday (12 November).

The former world champion from Singapore needed 32 minutes to prevail 21-12, 21-17 in his opening match against Chinese Taipei’s rank and filer.

Coming off second-round elimination at the Hylo Open in Germany two weeks ago, world No. 9 Loh cruised through the first game only to be staring at a 14-10 deficit in the second set.

But Loh took six of the next eight points to restore parity at 16 before going on to knock out the 70th-ranked Huang in their first career meeting.

Loh faces Ogawa Shogo of Japan in the round of 16.
