Netflix is making an adult animated workplace sitcom from Apple & Onion creator George Gendi with voice cast including Ambika Mod and Julia Davis.

Living the Dream follows best friends Des and Ray, a couple of guys from London who feel they should have made it big by now. Instead they’re stuck working on social media at a company called Ecofood. Now they must navigate awkward workplace romance, HR blunders, directives from the L.A. office and Ray’s dad’s disapproval.

Gendi, the BAFTA-nominated creator of Cartoon Network’s Apple & Onion, will lead voice cast alongside Javone Prince, while British stars including Mod, Davis, Ellie White and Tom Stourton are aboard. Warner Bros. Animation’s Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe is producing the eight-part series.

“If living the dream is being asked for a quote for a press release to announce my new show and then at Netflix’s request, trying to make it more cheeky/funny and then doing that countless times because none of them are good enough, then I’ve made it,” joked Gendi.

Netflix has been doubling down on adult animation of late, greenlighting Ricky Gervais’ latest show and a second season of Long Story Short from BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg.

EPs on Living the Dream are Sam Register (Looney Tunes Cartoons, Teen Titans Go!), Sarah Fell (The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball) and Daniel Lennard (The Amazing World of Gumball). Writers are Gendi, White, Phoebe Walsh, Joe Parnham and Joe Markham. Ireland’s Boulder Media is animation studio.

The show was revealed today at the Manchester Animation Festival in the UK.
