Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, and Rakul Preet Singh’s latest romantic comedy has kicked off on an impressive note. The movie earned Rs 9.45 crore on Day 1 in India. What makes this opening truly stand out is that these figures come with no holiday and no ticket offers.
The film showed Devgn reprising his role as Ashish, the charming London-based NRI, while Rakul Preet Singh returned as his on-screen girlfriend, Ayesha. With a strong word of mouth and following, ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ minted Rs 9.45 crore on the first day. The film saw a 14.05 per cent Hindi occupancy on Friday, November 14, marking a steady start as audiences returned to theatres for the sequel to the 2019 hit ‘De De Pyaar De’.
After the upward trend since Friday evening, Saturday numbers are likely to show a healthy jump.

‘De De Pyaar De 2’ is the love story of Aashish (Ajay Devgn) and Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh). The film introduces Aashish meeting Ayesha’s parents, played by R Madhavan and Gautami Kapoor. While they initially try to be progressive about the significant age gap, tensions arise when they realise that Aashish is almost as old as Ayesha’s father. The trailer also shows Meezaan Jafri’s character, planted by Ayesha’s parents to win her over and end her relationship with Aashish.
India Today, in its review of the film, wrote, “It’s perfectly crowd-pleasing, and comfortably familiar – never extraordinary, but never dull either. It’s the kind of movie you watch knowing exactly what you’ll get, and you get precisely that. ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ is comfortable. Watch it if you like rom-coms and want to give Bollywood a chance.”
‘De De Pyaar De 2’ is directed by Anshul Sharma, produced by T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, and Luv Films’ Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg. The film is currently running in theatres.
