As 2025 nears its end, Google has announced the winners of its annual Google Play Best of 2025 Awards, highlighting standout apps from developers around the world. The awards recognize apps that deliver strong user experiences, boost productivity and creativity, and offer meaningful everyday value on Android devices.

Google published winners across ten major categories, naming titles that represent the best work on the Play Store this year.

Best Overall App

Focus Friend earned Google’s top honor for helping users manage distractions and regain control of their daily routines. Google said the app encouraged users to “disconnect to reconnect.”

It also won Best for Personal Growth, marking a double win for creator Hank Green.

Best Multi-Device App

Luminar: Photo Editor gives users professional editing tools directly on Android. With AI-powered features and an easy interface, it lets users complete complex edits without needing a computer.

Best for Fun

Edits helps users prepare videos for social media with simple tools for quick, shareable clips. The app is free, has more than 10 million downloads, and holds a 4.5-star rating.

Best Everyday Essential

Wiser offers a large library of audiobooks ranging from classics to new releases. The app also creates 15-minute summaries to help users understand key themes, while personalized recommendations make it easy to find new titles.

Best Hidden Gem

Pingo uses AI to support language learning through natural conversations with an AI bot. It adjusts to each user’s pace and skill level to build confidence and fluency over time.

Best for Families

ABCmouse continues to be popular with young learners. Designed for ages 2–8, it includes free games, books, songs, and videos covering subjects like math, science, art, and music.

Best for Watches

SleepisolBio focuses on improving sleep quality through AI analysis and audio therapy. When used with a smartwatch, the app aims to help users relax and fall asleep more consistently.

Best for Large Screens

Goodnotes remains a reliable choice for note-taking and document management. Its interface and tools work especially well on tablets, making it a favorite among students and professionals.

Best for Cars

SoundCloud performed strongly on Android Auto thanks to its simple interface and large music library. The design allows drivers to explore new tracks while keeping their attention on the road.
