WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS ahead for Dexter: Resurrection episode 10.

The season 1 finale of Dexter: Resurrection suggests that one of the members of Prater’s kill club, who was previously thought to be dead, may actually still be alive.

Although Prater didn’t survive the Dexter: Resurrection season 1 finale after killing Angel Batista, his hired hand, Charley, did, which means she is one of the few people who know Dexter’s a serial killer. While Charley is a loose end, she’s not as much of a threat as this particular character, who was pronounced dead but may not be due to a clue in the finale.

Lady Vengeance’s File Is Still Marked As Active In Resurrection Episode 10

Leon Prater kept files on all the killers he kept in contact with as leverage if he were ever threatened. Dexter took a handful of those files, including Al’s, aka the Rapunzel killer, which he will likely be knocking off one by one in Dexter: Resurrection season 2. Charley found out about Prater’s file on her, which is why she walked away and left NYC with her mom.

However, an interesting clue may have been left intentionally in the Resurrection finale that suggests that Mia, known publicly as Lady Vengeance, may actually be alive. Her file was labeled as “active” when she had presumably died by suicide, or more likely, been killed by Prater’s command, while in prison. It may be a bit of a reach, but Mia certainly did not look active the last time we saw her in Resurrection.

Prater was also well aware of Mia’s death and gave a wine toast to her along with Dexter, or “Red”, Al, and one-half of the Gemini Killer. Wouldn’t it then have made sense for Prater to update her file immediately? There could be the explanation that it happened recently enough that Prater hadn’t updated the file. Or, better yet, Prater knew something that everyone else did not – that Mia Lapierre is still alive.

The Dexter franchise has certainly covered up and overwritten some previous plot elements to make things work, which is how Resurrection was born in the first place. Krysten Ritter was so captivating as Lady Vengeance that Dexter fans will likely not protest too much if she somehow returns for vengeance in Resurrection season 2.

Ritter recently revealed on the Dexter Final Cut aftershow on YouTube that she had so much playing Mia that she would be thrilled to return to the franchise. The file may seem like a trivial detail, but it does leave the door open for her return, whereas if the file had said “Inactive”, that would have been a more definitive indication of whether Ritter could possibly return in Dexter: Resurrection.
