Rock band Deftones returned this summer with a new album titled Private Music, and the group’s tenth studio LP became another commercial win and showed that even after 30 years together, the musicians can still create something that a massive fan base wants to snap up immediately.

As multiple singles from Private Music continue to find space across a variety of Billboard charts, one of the earliest Deftones albums surges in popularity. Around the Fur rises to new peaks on a handful of lists and even manages to appear for the very first time on a roster more than a quarter-century after its release.

Around The Fur Debuts on a Billboard Chart

Around the Fur reaches the Top Alternative Albums chart for the first time this week, as the set debuts at No. 23 on the list of the most consumed alternative full-lengths and EPs in the United States. Deftones have now accrued eight appearances on the Top Alternative Albums roster, and for the moment, Around the Fur stands out as the group’s lowest-peaking.

Deftones claim one of only two debuts on the Top Alternative Albums chart this week. Creed’s The Best of misses out on the top 10 by just one space, as it kicks off its time at No. 11. Hot Fuss by The Killers helps refresh the list as well, as it reenters the tally at No. 25.

Around The Fur Climbs to New Peaks on Several Charts

As Around the Fur debuts on the Top Alternative Albums list, the full-length climbs to never-before-seen peaks on three other Billboard rankings. Perhaps most impressively, the Deftones masterpiece enters the top 10 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart for the first time, jumping from No. 12 to No. 9.

Deftones Scores a Brand New Top 10 – With an Old Album

Deftones have now pushed nine projects to the Top Hard Rock Albums chart, and as of this week, all but one have spent time inside the uppermost region. Around the Fur is matched with White Pony, as both stalled at No. 9, and it leapfrogs over the group’s self-titled effort, which only climbed to No. 10. B-Sides and Rarities, which spent one week on the list last fall, is now the only Deftones offering to fail to crack the highest tier, as it peaked at No. 18.

Around The Fur Becomes a Top 40 Performer for the First Time

Around the Fur finds space within the top 40 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart for the first time. Deftones see the years-old set improve its standing from No. 48 to No. 40 in just its fourth week on the most competitive rock albums ranking.

Around the Fur also hits a new high point on the Top Album Sales chart, which, unlike the other rosters mentioned, is not specific to any one style. Luminate reports that in the tracking frame reflected on the current Billboard tallies, Around the Fur sold just over 4,100 copies. That is up more than 26% from the period prior.

Deftones Return To the Billboard 200

Around the Fur also performed well enough to blast back onto the Billboard 200, the busiest albums ranking in America. Around the Fur, which once topped out at No. 29, is back at No. 187 with more than 8,800 equivalent units moved between pure purchases and streaming activity.

There is only one other Billboard chart where Around the Fur can be found, and it is steady on the Vinyl Albums list. Around the Fur holds on that wax-only roster at No. 22.

Deftones Crack the Top 10 with Single “Infinite Source”

As Around the Fur experiences a late-in-life boom, “Infinite Source,” the current Deftones single, is also on the rise. The group scores a milestone tenth top 10 smash on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart as the Private Music cut jumps to No. 8. “Infinite Source” also reaches a new best showing on the Rock & Alternative Airplay ranking, stepping up from No. 6 to No. 5 as it continues to be promoted at radio throughout the U.S.
