Starlink cuts prices in US
September 15, 2025
By Chris Forrester
Broadband-by-satellite operator Starlink has cut the price of its service in parts of the US, reflecting that more satellites launched means more coverage and more customers. Starlink Standard Kit falls to a record low of $89 (€75.94) in parts of the US – a significant drop from its usual price ($349) and 85 per cent less than a year ago ($599).
On top of all this, new customers can also lock in a reduced monthly service fee of $59 (from the usual $120) for the first year.
This is a dramatic move by SpaceX, slashing the Starlink kit price by 75 per cent makes satellite internet far more accessible to a broader audience. Coupled with the reduced monthly service fee, it could significantly accelerate adoption and expand connectivity in underserved areas. Definitely a bold strategy that could reshape the market for high-speed internet.
However, like many a promotional offer the monthly discount benefit will evaporate at the end of a full year, which is not unheard of amongst its telco rivals.
As well as being attractive to potential customers previously because of congestion in some urban areas, the move can also be seen as being pre-emptive and ahead of Project Kuiper’s availability to the market.
