Millie Bobby Brown co-hosted The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she spoke about Stranger Things Season 5, possible spin-offs, and her very public love for Taylor Swift. It should have been a straightforward late-night fashion moment, right?

To say we’ve struggled with Millie’s recent choices would be an understatement. Some of you didn’t connect with any of the three press tour looks from Rodarte, Bronx and Banco, and Ashi Studio (I liked the first two of the three), and I suspect many of you will now add this Manière De Voir Martine pointelle-knit Bardot-neck belted jumpsuit to the list.

I don’t think she looks particularly bad, per se. The jumpsuit is fitted, the knit texture is interesting, and the silhouette clearly aims for body-confidence. But it is a very, very strange choice for this show, and even stranger for the role she was playing as co-host. We know that Late night dressing doesn’t have any rule, but this just doesn’t match the overall tone of the programme.

I’m not suggesting she needed to mirror Jimmy Fallon in a suit. But a sheer pointelle jumpsuit worn with nothing but boy shorts underneath is a baffling choice for an NBC stage. It reads far more suited to an Instagram post.

This is one of those moments where context should have guided the styling. The look itself isn’t disastrous — the placement, however, absolutely is.
